While the car projects will use a standard laptop hard drive due to the need for large amounts of information, I have started to experiment with using IDE to CF adapters with 40 and 44 pin connector ($12.99) and a 4GB CF Card ($15.49) for applications that will be on the local network (NAS/Kitchen PC/Streaming Audio). Slackware would appear to be the most likely distribution due to the size, but I will experiment with both Ubuntu and a stripped down Debian for SnG’s.
